How to Apply Foundation
Foundation is a cosmetic that helps to even out the skin tone
and give the appearance of a flawless skin. Listed below are the steps
to follow to apply foundation for that magical blemish free complexion.
-
Begin by washing the face and hands clean using a face wash suited to your skin type.
-
Apply a sunscreen lotion during the
daytime or a primer during the evening. Foundations blend better if the
skin is properly moisturized or hydrated. Primer works better if your
skin is broken, giving it an even surface. Leave the primer or sunscreen
for two minutes before application of foundation.
-
If skin appears too greasy after application of moisturizer, wipe the face with a wet tissue.
-
Use the tips of fingers or makeup sponge to apply foundation in dots on the cheekbone, forehead, chin and nose.
-
Blend the dots of foundation using your
fingertips, sponge or a foundation brush. Special attention must be
given to the jawline and hairline since marks or natural lines appear
more on these areas of the face.
- The foundation must be set on the face by applying translucent loose
powder. This gives a matte look to the skin; the makeup too looks more
natural.
Tips and Tricks to Remember while Using Foundation
-
Foundation is generally applied with the
fingers. However, if you prefer to use a sponge, make sure to clean the
sponge regularly so as to prevent the growth of bacteria. Using a sponge
long without cleaning may lead to skin infection.
-
Tinted moisturizer is an alternative to
foundation. Often, foundations may seem too expensive especially to a
student. Use a tinted moisturizer instead; it works best if you have a
dewy complexion.
-
You do not have to apply foundation all
over the face. Just apply dots of the cosmetic on areas that appear
blotchy and blend well. But never forget to apply foundation in the area
around the eyes, the chin and the nose.
- While applying foundation around the eye, remember not to rub in too
hard. This will help prevent stretching of the delicate eye muscles.
